Is it Time for a Breast Lift?
Many women consider a breast lift to counter the inevitable effects of aging and gravity. Others simply wish to achieve fuller breasts after substance loss due to pregnancy or breast-feeding.
Medical professionals will often recommend a breast lift if your drooping is “moderate to severe.” But what does that mean exactly? There are a number of ways to tell if your drooping could be considered moderate to severe. One way is to simply stand in the mirror and look if your nipple is placed in the center of the breast or if it falls below the breast crease. If the latter is true, a plastic surgeon could recommend treatment options that would help you regain a fuller, more youthful appearance.
Do Your Research
This is a big one! Everyone has heard horror stories of plastic surgery procedures gone wrong. That is usually because those individuals skipped this step and ended up in the hands of an unqualified surgeon. The good news is that there a couple basic items to look for that will ensure that your surgeon is well-qualified and you will end up with excellent results. Be sure to check if your surgeon:
- Is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
- Has at least 4 years of relevant surgical experience
- Operates in medically accredited facilities
- Provides ample before and after photographs for you to review
If your surgeon meets all of the above requirements, you can expect safe and optimal results.
Ask Questions
Every patient is unique. If you have specific questions regarding what procedure is right for you, it is always best to consult a qualified plastic surgeon. During a one-on-one consultation with your prospective surgeon, you can ask questions regarding which procedure may be right for you, what your recovery period will look like, what kind of results to expect, and the projected cost of treatment. Many women find it useful to compile a list of questions prior to their one-on-one consultation so they don’t forget anything.
